  June 16, 2011:  Bus barn fire at St. Joseph-Ogden High School.

       Welcome to the St. Joseph - Stanton Fire Protection District website.  We are located in St. Joseph, IL which is located in East-Central Illinois along Interstate 74 at mile marker 192 approximately 120 miles South of Chicago, and 110 miles West of Indianapolis. 

We are a 100% volunteer department which serves the Fire, EMS, & Rescue needs of our residents. Our district covers a 72 square mile area with approximately 6,800 people residing within that radius.  We serve the Village of St. Joseph, all of St. Joseph township, most of Stanton township, and small portions of Somer, and Urbana townships.  

We have the space & gear for 42 volunteers.

SJSFPD's annual response totals:
412 calls in 2009, 424 calls in 2010, 369 calls in 2011, 368 calls in 2012, 432 calls in 2013, 423 in 2014 & 370 in 2015.



Here are the calls by category for the 2015 year:

185 EMS calls
(Medical emergencies)

103 Fire Service calls
(These include investigative calls, responding to alarms, mutual aid to surrounding departments,
& working structural fires within our district)

52 Rescue calls
(Primarily vehicle accidents)

30 Public Assist calls
(Calls to assist a person, such as an elderly
resident who needs help up after a fall)
